About Me: Born and raised in Whanganui, I started at Hair Technique when I was 14, part time as the Saturday girl. Fast forward 21 years and my career in hairdressing has taken me to the other side of the world and back.

I took over ownership of the salon in July 2024 and am excited to continue the legacy that is Hair Technique.

I am also a qualified Barber.

In Salon I Enjoy… I love my colour work from foils to bold colour tones. I am also very strong cutter. I love a good shape whether your hair is a short pixie, a beautiful sharp bob or a textured layered long hair style. I love seeing my regular clients.

Outside The Salon: I have a strong passion for being outdoors enjoying our beautiful nature in the Mountains hiking with my husband and father.

Emily is working part time, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday’s.

Allison

Master Stylist, Educator

About Me: Hi I’m Allison, I started Hair Technique in 1983 and am very proud of the business I’ve established, and how far Hair Technique has come. I sold the business in July 2024 but continue to work Wednesday’s and Thursday’s in salon.

I’ve been in the hairdressing industry for more years then I care to admit!

I am also an Industry Assessor for HITO (Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation) which I enjoy seeing apprentices grow and become qualified confident stylists.

In Salon I Enjoy: I love to cut. For me the cut is the foundation that all good hair is built on. I’m all about making hair that my clients can keep looking good between salon visits.

My books are now closed to new clients, but I highly recommend my wonderful team.

Outside The Salon: I enjoy horse racing and visiting my sons whom live out of town - one in Auckland, one in Christchurch.

Allison is also a Qualified Assessor for the Hairdressing Industry

Alysha

Senior Stylist, Floor Manager, Educator

About Me: Hi, I'm Alysha, I’ve been a qualified hairdresser since 2017. My journey in hairdressing started in 2015 at UCOL, followed by an apprenticeship with Hair Technique. Since then I have been building my clientele, refining my skills, and enjoying ongoing training with L’Oreal, as well as being a Kerastase Care Coach in 2025.

In July 2024 I became Floor Manager and am excited to see what more Hair Technique can achieve!

In Salon I Enjoy… Building a connection with my clients and the confidence a great hair day can bring. I specialise in foil work and blondes - whether it’s a bold transformation or regular maintenance, I’m all about achieving beautiful, healthy results tailored to each client. Seeing my clients love their hair is the best part!

Outside The Salon: I love spending time with my loved ones and socializing with friends. I am a passionate animal lover. Mischief (my cat) and Molly (my dog) are my babies!

Courtney

Senior Stylist

About Me: Hey! I’m Courtney, I have been qualified since November 2019. I joined Hair Technique mid way through my 2nd year in 2017 after studying at UCOL where I had completed my first year.

In Salon I Enjoy… Creating bold colour transformations that truly elevate my clients’ style. I specialise in balayage and foiling techniques, that deliver seamless, customised looks. I also enjoy extension work, I love being able to make people’s long hair dreams come true! Whether it’s a dramatic change or a soft, sun-kissed glow, I’m all about helping people feel confident and refreshed!

 Outside The Salon: I enjoy a good social life and a glass of wine! I love to spend time with my beautiful doggies.

Grace

Senior Stylist

About Me: Hi I’m Grace! I have been qualified since June 2021. I joined Hair Technique at the end of 2018 and loved it, and was then offered an apprenticeship!

In Salon I Enjoy … Making clients feel fabulous and confident every time they leave the salon. I have a diverse clientele, where I provide precision cutting, personalised colouring for all colours and hair types, from grey-blending, lived-in looks to high-impact colours for all ages! Whether it’s short and chic, or long and luscious, I enjoy tailoring each look to suit my clients style and personality.

Outside The Salon: I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I love reading a good book, and spending time in the sun!

Jess

Junior Stylist

About Me: Hi, I’m Jess! I qualified in 2024. I started my hairdressing adventure in 2021 at UCOL. I joined the team here end of that year.

In Salon I Enjoy… Learning! My confidence and love for doing colours is growing each day. I enjoy the variety of work, from keeping up with the daily tasks, to working on clients to make them look and feel refreshed! I’m looking forward to growing my skills and clientele in the salon.

Outside The Salon: I love being active, spending time at the beach and socializing with friends!
