About Me: Hi I’m Allison, the proud owner of Hair Technique. Welcome to our new look website and let me introduce our amazing team.

I’ve been in the hairdressing industry for more years then I care to admit!

I am also an Industry Assessor for HITO (Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation) which I enjoy. I derive a lot of enjoyment from seeing apprentices grow and become qualified confident stylists.

In Salon I Enjoy: I love to cut. For me the cut is the foundation that all good hair is built on. I’m all about making hair that my clients can keep looking good between salon visits.

Top Tip: Healthy scalp healthy hair - you need to invest in salon products to keep your hair and scalp in optimum condition. The correct styling products make the styling process easy. Kerastase is our premium care, quality product and can not be underestimated.

Outside The Salon: I enjoy horse racing and visiting my sons whom live out of town - one in Auckland, one in Christchurch.

Allison is also a Qualified Assessor for the Hairdressing Industry

Emily

Manger, Educator, Barber & Senior Stylist

About Me: Born and raised in Whanganui, I started at Hair Technique when I was 14, part time as the Saturday girl. Fast forward 17 years and my career in hairdressing has taken me to the other side of the world and back.

I am also a qualified Barber and a Master Ambassador for Kerastase which entails more education and product launches to bring back into the salon for training our staff.

In Salon I Enjoy… I love my colour work from foils to bold colour tones. I am also very strong cutter. I love a good shape whether your hair is a short pixie, a beautiful sharp bob or a textured layered long hair style. I love seeing my regular clients but also welcome new clients.

Top Tip: I am a true believer that quality professional products will make your colour and style last while you are away from the salon. I recommend coming in and having a consult with us to determine a regime perfect for you.

Outside The Salon: My other strong passion is being outdoors enjoying our beautiful nature in the Mountains hiking with my husband and father.

Emily qualified as a barber in 2017. She is the Master Ambassador for Kerastase in Whanganui region.

Alysha

Senior Stylist, Educator

About Me: Hi, I'm Alysha, my journey in hairdressing started in 2015 at UCOL and then an apprenticeship with Hair Technique where I qualified in 2017. Since then I have been building my clientele and enjoying training with L'Oreal.

In Salon I Enjoy… Blonde work! I specialize in ombres, balayage and foiling work. My on going training to perfect my blonding work never ends with the new trends coming through each season. Currently the biggest trend I’m seeing is the “money piece” - this is a strong blonde streak in the front that highlights your face and then softens off into the rest of your colour.

Top Tip: Waves - That perfect wave takes practice and a good foundation of product. I recommend Pli by Techni Art. It helps hold your wave for longer and protects against the heat. When creating that beachy wave, finish it off by gently straightening ends and this will create a soft undone finish.

Outside The Salon: I love going to the speedway and supporting the teams - one of which has a family member in it.

Senior Stylist

About Me: I joined Hair Technique mid way through my 2nd year in 2017 after studying at UCOL where I had completed my first year. I officially qualified in November 2019.

In Salon I Enjoy… I love to be able to create new colour looks for those looking for a change. I really enjoy complex colour work like balayage and foil work.

 Top Tip: For blondes - to stop your hair looking yellow or brassy I would recommend using Kerastase Bain Ultra Violet Shampoo & Masque to maintain a clean/ ash blonde.

Outside The Salon: I enjoy a good social life! I also have two dogs: Rocky and Beau whom I love to spend time with.

Sarah

Senior Stylist

About Me: Hi I’m Sarah and I’ve worked at Hair Technique for 8 years now. I'm currently part time working Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturdays while raising my daughter Sophie.

In Salon I Enjoy… Formal hair! Weddings, ball up-dos, braids and waves. I love the transformation! I also enjoy my colour work. 

Top Tip: If shampoo your hair in the evenings, I recommend you completely dry the hair 100% to avoid any damage due to tension. I also recommend 21 (Color Fanatics) by Pureology for any detangling needs.

Outside The Salon: I enjoy being at home on the farm with our animals and raising my daughter Sophie.

Sarah is currently on maternity leave as of June 2020

Grace

3rd Year Apprentice

About Me: Hi I’m Grace! I joined Hair Technique as a Saturday girl/holiday assistant at the end of 2018 and loved it! I was offered an apprenticeship and I am now in my 3rd year. I am looking forward to completing my finals this year in November.

In Salon I Enjoy … Doing a little bit of everything. I love styling clients hair and making them feel fabulous when they walk out the door.

Top Tip: When heat styling your hair, I always recommend a heat protection product to reduce damage. I love Kerastase Elixir Oil as it protects from heat up to 230 degrees! Plus it smells amazing!!

Outside The Salon: I love being with my friends, family and being outdoors. I also love a good nap - who doesn’t! Ha ha.
