About Me: Hi I’m Allison, the proud owner of Hair Technique. Welcome to our new look website and let me introduce our amazing team.

I’ve been in the hairdressing industry for more years then I care to admit!

I am also an Industry Assessor for HITO (Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation) which I enjoy. I derive a lot of enjoyment from seeing apprentices grow and become qualified confident stylists.

In Salon I Enjoy: I love to cut. For me the cut is the foundation that all good hair is built on. I’m all about making hair that my clients can keep looking good between salon visits.

My books are now closed to new clients, but I highly recommend my wonderful team.

Top Tip: Healthy scalp healthy hair - you need to invest in salon products to keep your hair and scalp in optimum condition. The correct styling products make the styling process easy. Kerastase is our premium care, quality product and can not be underestimated.

Outside The Salon: I enjoy horse racing and visiting my sons whom live out of town - one in Auckland, one in Christchurch.

Emily

Qualified Senior Stylist and Barber

About Me: Born and raised in Whanganui, I started at Hair Technique when I was 14, part time as the Saturday girl. Fast forward 18 years and my career in hairdressing has taken me to the other side of the world and back.

I am also a qualified Barber and a Master Ambassador for Kerastase which entails more education and product launches to bring back into the salon for training our staff.

In Salon I Enjoy… I love my colour work from foils to bold colour tones. I am also very strong cutter. I love a good shape whether your hair is a short pixie, a beautiful sharp bob or a textured layered long hair style. I love seeing my regular clients.

Top Tip: I am a true believer that quality professional products will make your colour and style last while you are away from the salon. I recommend coming in and having a consult with us to determine a regime perfect for you.

Outside The Salon: I have a strong passion for being outdoors enjoying our beautiful nature in the Mountains hiking with my husband and father.

Emily is back from Maternity leave as of 27th August 2022, working limited hours.

Alysha

Qualified Senior Stylist, Educator

About Me: Hi, I'm Alysha, my journey in hairdressing started in 2015 at UCOL, followed by an apprenticeship with Hair Technique where I qualified in 2017. Since then I have been building my clientele, refining my skills, and enjoying ongoing training with L’Oreal.

In Salon I Enjoy… I enjoy a bit of everything from colour transformations to funky haircuts! I especially love my blond work, creating and maintaining the perfect, shiny blonde for my clients is so satisfying!

Top Tip: Heat protection! Make sure you are using quality products designed to benefit your hair, followed up by professional styling products that protect your hair from heat damage caused by blow-drying and styling. Kerastase’s Elixir Oil is a good one to protect, add shine, nourishment and anti-frizz!

Outside The Salon: I love spending time with my loved ones and socializing with friends. I am a passionate animal lover. Mischief (my cat) and Molly (my dog) are my babies!

Courtney

Qualified Senior Stylist

About Me: Hey! I’m Courtney, I joined Hair Technique mid way through my 2nd year in 2017 after studying at UCOL where I had completed my first year. I officially qualified in November 2019.

In Salon I Enjoy… I love to be able to create stunning looks for my lovely clients! Vibrant colours really brighten up my day. But most of all I enjoy complex colour work like balayage and foils where Grace and I come as a package deal!

 Top Tip: For blondes - to stop your hair looking yellow or brassy I would recommend using Kerastase Bain Ultra Violet Shampoo once every 1-2 weeks to maintain a clean/ash blonde. Be careful not to do this every time as it can build up and leave your hair looking dull.

Outside The Salon: I enjoy a good social life! I also have two dogs: Rocky and Beau, and a cat: Miley, who I love to spend time with.

Grace

Qualified Stylist

About Me: Hi I’m Grace! I joined Hair Technique as a Saturday girl/holiday assistant at the end of 2018 and loved it! I was offered an apprenticeship and I fully qualified in June 2021 and welcome new clients.

In Salon I Enjoy … I love playing with colours and creating big transformations. Balayage and foil work where I tag team with Courtney is a fave! I love making clients feel fabulous when they walk out the door.

Top Tip: Waves - That perfect wave takes practice and a good foundation of product. I recommend Pli by Techni Art. It helps hold your wave for longer and protects against the heat. When creating that beachy wave, finish it off by gently straightening ends and this will create a soft undone finish.

Outside The Salon: I love being with my friends, family and being outdoors. I also love a good nap - who doesn’t! Ha ha.

Jess

2nd Year Apprentice

About Me: Hi, I’m Jess! I started my hairdressing adventure in 2021 at UCOL. I joined the team here end of that year and am currently working to complete my 2nd year and I’m loving the challenges!

In Salon I Enjoy… Learning! My confidence and love for doing colours is growing each day. I enjoy the variety of work, from keeping up with the daily tasks, to working on clients to make them look and feel refreshed! I’m looking forward to growing my skills and clientele in the salon.

Top Tip: Invest in your hair! Kerastase’s Fusio Ritual is the perfect in salon treatment for everyone that feels like their hair is lacking hydration, shine, strength, density or anti-frizz.
